What Happens During a Service at Car Avenue
A service is more than an oil change. When your car comes in, we:
- Replace the engine oil and oil filter with the grade specified for your engine.
- Check and replace air, cabin and fuel filters as required by the service schedule.
- Inspect brakes, tyres, suspension and steering with the car on the lift.
- Check all fluid levels - coolant, brake fluid, power steering, screen wash.
- Test the battery and charging system
- Scan the car for stored fault codes and reset the service indicator.
- Tell you what we found, including anything that will need attention before the next service or the NCT.
How Often Should I Service My Car?
Follow the manufacturer’s schedule for your model – for most cars that means once a year, or sooner if you cover high mileage. Short journeys, stop-start driving and towing are harder on a car, so cars used mainly around town often benefit from more frequent oil changes. How long does a service take?
Most services are completed the same day. We will give you a time when you book.
Can you check my car before the NCT?
Yes. We can carry out a pre-NCT check covering the common failure points – brakes, tyres, lights, suspension, emissions and warning lights – and fix any issues before your test.
Do you use the correct oil for my engine?
Yes. Modern engines, especially German ones, need oil that meets a specific manufacturer approval. We use oil matched to your engine’s specification.
Will you contact me before doing extra work?
Always. If we find something that is not part of the service, we explain it and give you a price first. You decide.
